Netflix’s Heartstopper to end with feature film finale

April 24, 2025 by Gary Collinson

After three seasons, Netflix has announced that its fan-favourite series Heartstopper is set to conclude with a feature film finale, which will be based upon the as-yet-unreleased sixth volume of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series.

The finale film will be directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice, Colette) from a script by Oseman, while Kit Connor and Joe Locke will return as Nick and Charlie, as well as executive producing.

“I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story,” said Oseman. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”

The synopsis for the feature film reads: “Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?“

Production on the Heartstopper film will commence in the summer ahead of a presumed 2026 release.
