90s-inspired survival horror Deadcam sets Early Access release with new trailer

June 6, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Developer Joure Visser has announced that his 90s-inspired survival horror game Deadcam will arrive on Steam Early Access on 23rd June. The game will launch with the first of five files with this first being set in a Japanese school and offering multiple endings to discover. A demo will also be available during Steam Fest. Watch the eerie new announcement trailer below….

Deadcam will take players through a series of 90’s-style gritty horror experiences told through found footage recordings. These are separated into ‘files’ and cover a range of stories from survival horror to psychological thrillers. Each story will have its own unique setting and story and players will need to uncover the mystery surrounding each file before being able to proceed on to the next.

When Deadcam launches into Early Access, players will find their first encounter has an atmospheric J-Horror set in an abandoned Japanese school environment. During the game’s Early Access period, there will be four more eerie encounters added to scare players in fresh, new ways.

During each file, retro UI elements will monitor haunted activity in the area, these include the size and speed of nearby enemies. Some enemies may walk or run to the player’s location, making it possible that they will encounter a whole horde of enemies at once. Fortunately, there are a variety of weapons to use, including swords, pistols, shotguns and even more deadly weapons like flamethrowers and chainsaws. Ranged and melee weapons each have their own advantages, ranged require players to aim and reduces movement speed but are powerful, while melee will be quicker to use but will mean getting up close and personal with the horrors.

Get ready for a series of horrifying encounters coming to Steam with Deadcam later this month.
