With the success of Superman, DC Studios is turning its eye more to the future of its feature film slate with a reboot of DC’s Amazonian warrior Wonder Woman and the announcement of the film’s screenwriter.
Studio co-head and Superman director James Gunn confirmed they have hired Ana Nogueira to pen Wonder Woman. If that name sounds familiar it is because she wrote the screenplay for Supergirl which will fly into theatres next summer. Nogueira is making a name for herself at DC Studios as she is also apparently attached to write Teen Titans for the DCU.
There are not any details on Wonder Woman as of yet except for how it will take place in the DCU where metahumans have been known to exist for centuries. It will also presumably be tied to the upcoming HBO series Paradise Lost which will take place on the Amazon’s island of Themyscira. The series, which is currently in development, is said to be an origin for the Amazons before Wonder Woman’s birth.
