Krypto Saves The Day! in first episode of animated Superman spinoff series

August 14, 2025 by Ricky Church

With Superman flying to digital tomorrow followed by its home release next month, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have released the first episode of Krypto Saves The Day!, a series of animated shorts focusing on Superman’s loyal canine as he saves people from various accidents or helps young kids with their problems.

The first episode, titled ‘School Bus Shuffle’, follows Krypto as he performs a rescue of a runaway school bus. As well as being released online, the episodes will also be packaged as a special feature Superman’s digital and physical releases. The synopsis for the series reads:

Look Pup! Fresh off his star-making performance in Superman, Krypto returns in a series of original comedic animated shorts. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, Krypto Saves the Day! brings the caped canine’s brand of heroic hijinks to everyday life in Metropolis. From school bus rescues to Spring Break cruise ship saves – and even Halloween candy crises – no adventure is too small as Krypto delivers super-powered action, laughs, and plenty of mischief for fans of all ages.

Four episodes of Krypto Saves The Day! have been produced. DC has released images from the upcoming episodes, titled ‘Halloween Havoc’, ‘Package Pandemonium’ and ‘Coastal Catastrophe’, which will be released individually through to 2026. You can check the images out here…

When Superman is drawn into conflicts both abroad and at home, his actions to protect humankind are questioned, and his vulnerability allows tech billionaire and master deceiver Lex Luthor to leverage the opportunity to get Superman out of the way for good. Will the Daily Planet’s intrepid reporter Lois Lane, together with the aid of Metropolis’s other metahumans and Superman’s own four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help Superman before Luthor can completely destroy him?

The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).

Superman will release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 23rd.
