James Bond game 007 First Light launches developer diary series

December 4, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Award-winning developer and publisher IO Interactive have released the first episode in a new series of developer diaries for 007 First Light. This first episode, Beyond the Light, provides viewers with a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the game’s development. You can watch this new developer diary below…

This first episode in the series features Gameplay Director, Andreas Krogh, and Thomas Pulluello, Senior Level Designer, as they offer an insight into how the development team develop the life of a young James Bond through interactive storytelling and gameplay.

007 First Light is a standalone original story that will allow players to complete missions their own way, whether that is by using stealth, direct action, or a combination of the two. Through using several gameplay pillars, including Spycraft, Instinct, Gadgets, and Combat, players will be able to tackle each mission by using Bond’s skills, charm and intelligence. Spycraft involves stealth, info gathering and infiltration. Instinct uses Bond’s ability to adapt, bluff and deceive. Gadgets come from Q Branch and provide a bit more tactical flexibility. Finally, Combat covers gunplay, melee fighting, and interaction with the environment.
