The BBC reimagines Pride & Prejudice with The Other Bennet Sister trailer

March 7, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

The BBC has shared a trailer for The Other Bennet Sister, the period drama series based on Janice Hadlow’s novel of the same name.

The series is a reimagining of the world of Pride and Prejudice, and tells the story from the perspective of the over-looked middle sister Mary, as she attempts to leave her sisters shadows and embarks on a journey to find herself.

Ella Bruccoleri leads the cast as Mary Bennet, alongside Richard E. Grant, Ruth Jones, Indira Varma, Richard Coyle, Laurie Davidson, Dónal Finn, Róisín Bhalla, Reggie Absolom, Jasmine Sharp, Varada Sethu, Aaron Gill, Poppy Gilbert, Molly Wright, Grace Hogg-Robinson, Tanya Reynolds, Anna Fenton-Garvey, and Ryan Sampson.

The Other Bennet Sister offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters’ shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way.

The Other Bennet Sister premieres on BBC iPlayer on March 16th in the UK and on May 6th on BritBox in the US.
