Star Trek: Shadow Frontier announced with first trailer at IGN Live Showcase 2026

June 8, 2026 by Andrew Newton

Paramount Games Studio and Bloober Team have announced Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, an upcoming sci-fi psychological thriller set in the Star Trek universe. Gamers on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC can expect to place their phasers on stun in 2027. Check out the announcement trailer below…

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier will see the return of Bajoran Ro Laren, last seen aboard the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and played once more by Michelle Forbes. After picking up a distress signal coming from a nearby uncharted planet, Ro Laren goes to explore for survivors, only for her ship to crash. Realising the planet is just a giant spaceship graveyard, she must search for a way home and explore the planet’s corrupted surface, while resisting the hostile entity that seeks to envelop her body and mind.

Players will need to explore the hostile environment, encounter other space travellers who have survived crashing on the planet, and face off against a variety of twisted, violent creatures.

“We’ve long admired the way Bloober Team crafts deeply immersive, atmospheric experiences that keep players on the edge of their seats,” said Shawn Kittelsen, SVP, Head of Creative and Production at Paramount Games Studio. “For Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, it was essential to partner with a studio that could both honour that legacy and push it forward. We have full confidence in Bloober’s ability to deliver a game that does justice to the Star Trek name while bringing something bold and new to the beloved franchise.”

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier will launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S|X in 2027. Look out for more news arriving in the future.
