Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book both hit $800 million at the global box office

May 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It’s a double celebration for Disney today, as both Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book have crossed the $800 million mark at the worldwide box office.

Civil War has already overtaken Deadpool ($762 million) and is expected to add around $70 million domestically this weekend, so when you throw in the international numbers, there’s a good chance the film will surpass Warner’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by close of play on Sunday.

In terms of Disney’s live-action fairy tale movies, The Jungle Book has overtaken Maleficent ($758.5 million), but trails behind Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which grossed $1.025 billion back in 2010.

With Civil War and The Jungle Book, Disney now has three movies which have grossed over $800 million this year, with Zootopia currently sitting on $959.7 million.
