Anchorman Jr. spin-off a possibility at Paramount

November 16, 2013 by admin

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy has pretty much gone from a mild box office hit to a staple in pop culture, so it’s no surprise that writer-director Adam McKay has said in an interview with Collider that he’s going to have a G-rated Anchorman spin-off that follows Walter Burgundy, the son of Ron Burgundy, and the family dog Baxter.

“We wanted to do the adventures of his son, Walter Burgundy, and Baxter,” says McKay. “And I actually pitched it to Adam Goodman at Paramount and he said, ‘That’s not a bad idea.’ So there’s a chance we might be doing a G-rated, PG, ‘Adventures of Walter and Baxter,’ which would be amazing.”

With this and the news of a spin-off from The Heat, one can only wonder how much of an affect the Jackass spin-off Bad Grandpa has had on the industry.  Is this going to be a new trend for comedies?  And are you excited for this Anchorman spin-off? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is set for release on December 20th, with Adam McKay directing returning stars Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), Steve Carrell (Brick Tamland), David Koechner (Champ Kind), Fred Willard (Ed Harken), Chris Parnell (Garth Holladay), Luke Wilson (Frank Vitchard), Vince Vaughn (Wes Mantooth) and Ben Stiller (Arturo Mendez) alongside new cast additions Harrison Ford (Ender’s Game), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 2), Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), and Meagan Good (Think Like a Man).
