Original X-Men cast members to return for X-Men: Apocalypse

May 27, 2014 by Gary Collinson

We know that 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse is set to revolve around the X-Men: First Class cast – with director Bryan Singer confirming that James McAvoy (Professor Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) will all be back – while there’s also been talk of bringing in younger incarnations of characters such as Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Nightcrawler, not to mention the addition of Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) as Gambit.

Despite the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine (no surprise there), it appeared that the next instalment of the mutant franchise would remain firmly rooted in the First Class continuity, with X-Men: Days of Future Past serving as a swansong to the original cast. However, that may not be the case after all, with writer-producer Simon Kinberg now revealing that we may see the return of more familiar faces from the original X-Men trilogy, telling The Daily Beast that: “[Apocalypse] will focus primarily on the First Class cast, but it will certainly have some of the original cast involved, too.”

So does that mean back-to-back time-travel for the X-Men franchise or is there another way that Fox could work in the original cast? And do we even want to see them as part of X-Men: Apocalypse? Let us know your thoughts….
