Woody Harrelson in early talks for Han Solo spinoff film

January 4, 2017 by James Garcia

With the upcoming Han Solo standalone film gearing up for production in February, it appears that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are starting to round out the supporting cast for the Star Wars spinoff. According to Variety, the next addition could be Woody Harrelson, who is in early talks for the role of the titular iconic smuggler’s mentor.

Harrelson is no stranger to science fiction, as he’ll appear next in War for the Planet of the Apes and acted as Katniss Everdeen’s mentor in the Hunger Games franchise. If he does indeed land the role, he’ll co-star alongside Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta, Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

The still untitled Han Solo standalone film is set for release on May 25th, 2018, though rumors have suggested it could be pushed to December.
