With the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming just a few weeks away, there’s been a lot of speculation over his future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The wall crawler will appear in Avengers: Infinity War and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, but as far as solo films go not much is known beyond the likelihood of a sequel to Homecoming, depending on how long Marvel’s deal with Sony lasts.
Tom Holland, however, recently spoke with the French outlet AlloCine and seemingly confirmed not one, but two sequels to Spider-Man: Homecoming that he will star in.
“Yes, there is what we call the arc of the character,” he said. “There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man, especially, to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies.”
The outlet asked if ‘couple of movies’ meant the Avengers films or more solo films and Holland clarified his statement, confirming that: “There will be a Spider-Man 2 and 3. It won’t be Homecoming 2 and 3.”
When faced with the fact that a third Spider-Man film with him starring hadn’t officially been announced, he jokingly stated “Yeah, well now you know, sorry Marvel. Whoops!”
