The Flash reborn with new season 4 costume, Elongated Man cast

August 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The Flash will be reborn this October when Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen emerges from the Speed Force for the fourth season of The CW’s hit DC superhero show, and Gustin has been chatting to EW about this ‘rebirth’ and how his character has been affected between seasons.

“The way I see it is, time is non-linear and everything is happening at once in the Speed Force. In someways he’s had an awakening and he’s had a rebirth. Our first episode is called ‘Reborn,’ and it is a rebirth for Barry, but he’s kind of scrambled, too, because he’s experienced so much so quick over the course of six months, even though for him it was an eternity. He’s not Barry when we see him for the first time.”

As part of this ‘rebirth’, the Scarlet Speedster will be getting a revamped costume, which you can see here in the latest set photos…

Meanwhile, it has also been announced that season four of The Flash will see the introduction of a new hero, with Hartley Sawyer (Saving the Human Race) securing the role of Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. Elongated Man – a character who made his first appearance way back in 1960’s The Flash #112 and will be making his live-action debut in the show. Sawyer joins fellow new additions Danny Trejo as Breacher, Kim Engelbrecht as The Mechanic and Neil Sandilands as The Thinker.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive The Flash. But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiyan Lonsdale) forever. With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs — Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) — Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.

The Flash will return to The CW for its fourth season on Tuesday, October 10th.
