Daniel Craig confirms Bond 25 return, will be his last outing as 007

August 16, 2017 by Ricky Church

Ever since Daniel Craig made his infamous comments on returning to the role of James Bond after Spectre, there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether or not he really would come back or give up the role. We’ve heard over the last couple weeks that Craig was likely to return and do two more 007 films, but now he has confirmed personally that he will reprise the role for Bond 25, but it will in fact be his last.

Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Craig gave a blunt “Yes” when asked if he was reprising the role of the world’s most famous secret agent. He also told Colbert he’s known for “a couple of months. We’ve been discussing it, we’ve just been trying to figure things out. I always wanted to, I needed a break.”

He also again clarified his comments from Time Out London, in which he said he would “rather break this glass and slash my wrists” than do another Bond film. “Instead of saying something with style and grace, I said something really stupid,” he told the Late Show host.

Craig also confirmed that Bond 25 will be his last performance as 007, at least for the time being. Asked by Colbert, Craig said “No. I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note and I can’t wait.”

Bond 25 is being written by franchise veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, marking their seventh Bond film in a row, while a search for a new director is underway. Bond 25 is slated for a November 8, 2019 release date.
