Margot Robbie expects to be back as Harley Quinn in 2018

September 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With Warner Bros. constantly adding new projects and shuffling its existing DC slate around, it’s been difficult to keep track of the studio’s specific plans for the future of the DC Extended Universe.

In the past few weeks, we’ve had an announcement on a Joker and Harley Quinn movie, rumours about the status of the planned Gotham City Sirens film, and the news that Gavin O’Connor will write and direct Suicide Squad 2.

During a chat with The Wrap at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she’s promoting her new film I, Tonya [read our review here], Margot Robbie has revealed that he expects to be reprising the role of Harley Quinn in 2018, although she also claims she’s not yet sure which project it will be for.

“I think next year I’ll be back in the fishnets wielding a baseball bat. I hope,” said Robbie, before being asked which film it would be for: “Your guess is as good as mine at this point. I don’t know.”

Given that both Suicide Squad 2 and the Joker and Harley Quinn movie both have directors on board, it’s presumably a toss-up between the two (whichever can hold onto its directors the longest?), but previous rumours have suggested that the plan is for Suicide Squad 2 to be followed by Joker and Harley Quinn, which would then lead into Gotham City Sirens.
