Captain Marvel spotted on Avengers 4 set, Shazam beings shooting next year, Matthew Vaughn’s Superman pitch and more – Daily News Roundup

MARVEL IN MARVEL’S AVENGERS

It had been rumoured and speculated that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel would make her debut in Avengers: Infinity War, which was then dismissed when Marvel Studios revealed our first look at Carol Danvers will be in her 2019 solo movie. However Larson has now been spotted heading to the set of Avengers 4 alongside Chris Evans. Read more here.

NEXT JEDI TRAILER

It looks like the Force will be with Monday Night Football in early October, as Mark Hamill has seemingly revealed that the second trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will debut during the October 9th broadcast. Read more here.

SHAZAM BEGINS

It was announced in July that David F. Sanberg’s Shazam would be the next DCEU movie to head into production, and a new report suggests the film could start filming next February in Toronto. No one has been cast yet, but rumours suggest that both WWE star John Cena (Daddy’s Home) and Joshua Sasse (Galavant) are “tentative” front runners for the role of Billy Batson’s superhero alter-ego. Read more here.

CABLE LOOKS MAD

Josh Brolin has taken to Instagram to share a rather intense behind-the-scenes image from Deadpool 2, showing him in full Cable costume alongside a shattered mirror. Brolin posted the image with the caption, “Oh my God, wait until you see Deadpool. It’s SO funny!!!” Seems like Cable might be getting a little infuriated with the Merc with a Mouth’s wisecracking ways. Check it out here.

VAUGHN’S SUPERMAN

One of the most-common names linked to Man of Steel 2 has been Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘s Matthew Vaughn – no stranger to the comic book world having helmed X-Men: First Class. In a new interview with Collider, Vaughn has spoken about what he would do if he got the role. “I think my main take would be, it’s really boring, but make a Superman film. I just don’t feel a proper Superman — I think Donner did it to perfection for that time. Just doing the modern — I wanna do a modern version of the Donner [version]. Go back to the source material… For me Superman is color, feel-good, heroic. He’s a beacon of light in darkness. And that’s what I think Superman should be.” Read more here.

CLOWN HARASSMENT

It director Andy Muschietti spoke to TMZ about being harassed in real-life by clowns upset with his movie depicting the trait as evil. “Look, to be fair, he’s a good guy, but he’s been asking me, ‘Why would I do this?’ I was very polite and said like, ‘Well, kids are scared of clowns’. I think, if anything, clowns are benefiting from the publicity. Clown fear is coming back, but you know there’s scary clowns and there’s nice clowns. So they should think about what kind of clown they should be, right? I mean, if they scare kids they scare kids because they are scary.” Read more here.

REVIEW OF THE DAY
