Quentin Tarantino’s Manson Family screenplay is being read by Hollywood studios this week

November 2, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The latest effort by Quentin Tarantino is currently in the hands of Hollywood studios.

The 9th film by the iconic director was always going to be a big event; such is the leisure at which he makes his movies. But with the recent Harvey Weinstein scandal forcing Tarantino to look away from The Weinstein Company – his long time collaborator – and find a new home for his latest feature, this will only be amplified.

The film is said to focus on the infamous Charles Manson murders, set in 60s and 70s Los Angeles. And now we know that various studios have their hands on the script this week, with only the major players being involved. This is because Tarantino and WME are said to want a studio that has the capabilities to execute a worldwide release.

According to Deadline, all the major studios are involved, with the exception of Disney, with Deadline commenting that the film has a strong commercial appeal and a tone that can be compared to Tarantino’s classic hit Pulp Fiction.

And while the film will most likely revolve around the Manson murders, Deadline also say that this will only be a tangential connection – much like Inglorious Bastards not being about Hitler, even though he was in a scene or two.
