Peter Dinklage says that it’s the “perfect time” to end Game of Thrones

January 23, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Game of Thrones is soon coming to an end and Peter Dinklage says it’s the “perfect time” to do so.

The hit HBO fantasy series has enraptured fans around the world for seven seasons so far and now audiences are waiting with great anticipation for the eighth and final instalment of the show, due out in 2019.

While fans will surely mourn the passing of the critically acclaimed and beloved TV show, all things must come to an end eventually, and one of Game of Thrones’ stars, Peter Dinklage, believes that the perfect time to say goodbye is now.

Speaking to Variety at the Sundance Film Festival, Dinklage said that the cast and crew are “taking our time” with the final six episodes and responded in the affirmative when asked if he’s sad to say goodbye to his character Tyrion:

“Yeah, it’s bittersweet, when it’s time to move on,” he told Variety. “It’s always heartbreaking,” the Dinklage continues, “but yeah, it’s time. Storywise, not just for all our lives. I think if they went any further, they… it’s the perfect time to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long—the ‘jumping the shark’ thing.”
