Jurassic World 3 release date announced, Emily Carmichael writing script

February 22, 2018 by Ricky Church

Even though we’re still a few months away from the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Universal Pictures has already set a release date for Jurassic World 3. The film is set for a June 11, 2021 release date. So far nothing else is slated for that date, though an untitled Pixar animated film is set for a June 18, 2021 date, a week after Jurassic World 3’s release.

Furthermore, Universal has hired Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising) to write the script with Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow. The pair will write the script based on a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who both crafted the stories for Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom.

“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive,” Trevorrow said in a statement.  “I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. [Bayona] has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favoritecharacters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set for release on June 22nd, 2018 and sees J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum alongside newcomers Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Rafe Spall (Black Mirror), Justice Smith (The Get Down), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), James Cromwell (The Young Pope), Daniella Pineda (The Detour) and Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls).
