Lynda Carter on Wonder Woman being snubbed at the Oscars, open to appearing in the sequel

March 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite being nominated by the Producers Guild of America at the 2018 PGA Awards, Warner Bros.’ DC blockbuster Wonder Woman not only found itself missing out on a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, but was also shut out entirely at the Oscars – something that left TV’s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter feeling very disappointed.

“I’m very close to Patty, and I think Gal Gadot did a wonderful job,” Carter told The Daily Beast. “I was really happy to see they showed a clip of the film during the Oscars, even though they didn’t nominate it for anything. Anything. It should have been nominated. They were left out of special effects, writing, everything. Patty did an amazing job. The essence of the character is not an easy one to find the right balance of. Patty got it.”

Meanwhile, as Jenkins and Gadot gear up to go into production on Wonder Woman 2 this summer, Carter has confirmed that she is open to making a cameo appearance in the sequel, stating that: “We’ll see what Patty does. I don’t know how she’s going to do it. I said to her, ‘Whatever you want to do is fine with me.”

Do you agree with Lynda Carter? Did Wonder Woman deserve some recognition at the Oscars? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman sees Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
