Mark Hamill says it’s up to J.J. Abrams if Luke returns for Star Wars: Episode IX

March 21, 2018 by Samuel Brace

It’s in the hands of J.J. Abrams if Luke Skywalker returns for Star Wars: Episode IX.

One of the more shocking moment from Star Wars: The Last Jedi – and there were a few – was the death of Luke towards the film’s end after a confrontation with his old pupil, Kylo Ren.

Many fans have been speculating and hoping that Luke might return for the J.J. Abrams directed Episode IX, perhaps as force ghost much like his old masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and most recently, Yoda.

Mark Hamill himself doesn’t seem to be ruling out the possibility but explained it’s all up to one man: “Listen, if you can’t have fun making a Star Wars movie, you have a serious problem. I had a blast,” Hamill told ABC News regarding if he’d like to return. “Put in a good word for me because it’s all in J.J.’s hands.”

Luke’s return would certainly be popular with fans and it would absolutely make sense if he were to return as a force ghost, perhaps giving advice to Rey or even tormenting the man formerly known as Ben Solo. Do you think J.J. will acquiesce?
