Jack Bauer heading back to the small screen for more 24?

May 10, 2013 by admin

Having been in development since 2006, it seems pretty safe to assume that the proposed 24 movie is never going to manage to drag itself out of development hell, but that might not necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of CTU. According to Deadline, Fox is looking to revive the real-time drama for a new limited series headed up by 24 showrunner Howard Gordon (Homeland), who is said to have pitched a concept to Fox and Imagine TV “which would start from scratch with a new story arc.”

While that description screams “reboot”, fans of the show will be relieved to hear that Kiefer Sutherland is in negotiations with Fox about reprising the role of terrorist killing machine Jack Bauer. While no deal is yet in place, Sutherland has plenty of room in his schedule, with Fox announcing just yesterday that it’s decided to pull the plug on his current show Touch after two seasons, with the final episode set to air in the States tonight.

24 premiered on Fox in 2001 and ran for 192 episodes across eight seasons (in addition to the TV movie 24: Redemption), picking up a host of accolades along the way, including twenty Emmys Awards and two Golden Globes.
