Super Smash Bros 3DS is dolling out 136 year bans

November 3, 2014 by Tom Powter

A number of Super Smash Bros players have been hit by 136-year bans.

The bans are reportedly coming about as a result of Nintendo’s anti-griefing technology designed to punish players who aggressively target one player online.

While the typical Smash Bros ban is 15 minutes long,  some players are being banned for 71,582,030 minutes.

Nintendo have yet to make any kind of comment, so for now there isn’t a clear way to avoid the ban aside from not playing online at all. The bug is believed to be a simple code error originating from how the game determines the correct ban length, at least according to Reddit.

Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan midway through September and has sold impressively well, selling more than 3.2 million copies worldwide. Read our review here.

The Wii U version of the game will release in North America on November 21st, then a week later in Europe. The game releases December 6th in Japan and Australia.
