With The Martian and Prometheus 2 on his upcoming slate, it seems that Ridley Scott has decided against taking on the director’s chair on Blade Runner 2, although the sequel to the sci-fi classic is still going ahead and will begin filming within the next year, with Harrison Ford confirmed to appear.
“[Screenwriter Hampton Fancher and I] talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one,” Scott tells Variety. “Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.”
