The LEGO Movie director Phil Lord reacts to Oscar snub

January 16, 2015 by Thomas Roach

The LEGO Movie was one of – if not the – most popular animated movies of 2014, so naturally it was assumed that the film would be a shoe-in for a Best Animated Feature nomination at the Oscars. Surprisingly it missed out on a nod and so co-director Phil Lord took to Twitter to express how he felt about the snub.

Lord shared this image with the message: “It’s okay. Made my own!” before adding a few minutes later that: “This is not a tragedy. Congrats to the incredible crew and cast of The LEGO Movie, who made a classic.”

It is good to see that Lord has not been upset by the snub and appreciates what everyone who worked on the project to make a great movie.

The films that did get nominated for Best Animated Feature were Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

Are you disappointed that The LEGO Movie missed out on a nomination, or did the Academy get it right?
