Five actresses testing for Captain America’s love interest in The Winter Soldier

October 3, 2012 by admin

Despite earlier reports linking Anna Kendrick (Twilight) and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) to the role, Deadline are reporting that directors Anthony and Joe Russo have narrowed their search for the female lead in the upcoming Marvel Studios sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier to five actresses. According to the report, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Alison Brie (Mad Men) are all set to test for the love-interest role, rumoured to be the character of Sharon Carter.

In addition to Cap’s new love-interest, it’s also stated that Scarlett Johansson will return for a third outing as Black Widow (having appeared in both Iron Man 2 and The Avengers), joining a cast that so far includes fellow Avengers stars Chris Evans as Captain America and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, with Sebastian Stan also reprising his role from Captain America: The First Avenger as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) joining the cast as Cap’s new sidekick, Sam Wilson / Falcon.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently scheduled for release on April 4th, 2014.
