Marvel announces Secret Wars 2099

February 4, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Well, the Marvel Universe is certainly going to go out with a bang this May with Secret Wars, with the publisher already announcing a host of tie-in titles to the epic event, and now we have another in Secret Wars 2099, which comes by way of Spider-Man 2099 creative team Peter David and Will Sliney.

“2099 has always been a bit dystopian, with corporate America out of control and heroes few and far between. For the first time, we’re going to see how that affects the Avengers,” says series Editor Devin Lewis. “What do the Avengers look like and stand for in a world where greed is the accepted ‘good’? How will that affect their values or outlooks? And, is there anyone left from the old days who still believe in the ideals of the Heroic Age?”

When everything ends, it’s time to go back to the future. Revisit the world of 2099 and see it a whole new light, as characters who have never been seen before make their first appearances – including the AVENGERS 2099. Can the ideal of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes survive in a world where megacorporations rule with an iron fist?

Secret Wars 2099 #1 is out May 27th.
