Stargate reboot gets Independence Day 2 screenwriters

February 6, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Last May it was announced that director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin are set to reboot their 1994 sci-fi Stargate with a potential new trilogy, and now the duo have found their screenwriters for the new film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods are in final negotiations to pen the reboot, having recently supplied the script for another of Emmerich and Devlin’s upcoming projects, Independence Day 2.

Released in 1994, Stargate grossed almost $200 million at the box office, and spawned an entire franchise, which includes the series Stargate SG-1 and direct to video movies such as Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum.
