Holy Franchise, Batman! – News, review and giveaway

June 12, 2012 by admin

There’s just under three weeks to go until the release of my book, Holy Franchise, Batman! Bringing the Caped Crusader to the Screen, and a few websites have been kind enough to offer up some press in advance of its arrival.

First of all, thanks to HorrorUnlimited, PissedOffGeek and Bat-Blog for posting news stories highlighting the release, while the folks at ComicsCodeWeekly have also took the time to review the book. Here’s a short extract:

“Whether you’re a fan of the landmark ’60s TV series, the ’90s animated universe or director Christopher Nolan’s Hollywood blockbusters they’re all here; including projects that never made it out of the Batcave (DarKnight and Batman Triumphant) and the loosely connected Catwoman movie… Holy Franchise Batman! is a well written tome that provides a handy overview of the Caped Crusader’s screen career.“

And finally, if you’d like to try and win yourself a copy of the book, head on over to Filmoria to enter their Holy Franchise, Batman! giveaway.

Written by Gary Collinson, the founder and editor of UK film site FlickeringMyth.com, Holy Franchise, Batman! traces the entire screen history of the Dark Knight, providing a fascinating and comprehensive insight into the history and genesis of one of the most recognisable characters of all time…

  • Charts Batman’s various adventures across film, television and animation, from his early silver screen appearances through to The Dark Knight Rises and beyond
  • Detailed insights into the making of the Batman movie series directed by Tim Burton (Batman, Batman Returns), Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever, Batman & Robin) and Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight)
  • Features a full episode guide to the classic 1960s Batman television series starring Adam West and Burt Ward
  • A compendious overview of Batman’s animated adventures, including early Saturday morning Super Friends cartoons, the fan-favourite ‘DC Animated Universe’ and the direct-to-video ‘DC Universe Animated Original Movies’ line

Holy Franchise, Batman! is released on June 29th. For a list of stockists, click here.
