Adria Arjona joins the DC Universe with Man of Tomorrow role

April 16, 2026 by Gary Collinson

Although there remains some speculation surrounding the specifics of the character in question, it has been confirmed that Andor star Adria Arjona is officially joining the DC Universe with a role in James Gunn’s Superman follow-up Man of Tomorrow.

A frequent fan suggestion for the role of the rebooted DC Universe’s new Diana Prince – and someone who Gunn himself stated last year would “be a great Wonder Woman – Arjona was said to have tested for a coveted female role in the film last week alongside Eva De Dominici (The Cleaning Lady), Sydney Chandler (Alien: Earth) and Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies). And, while Gunn called those reports “shoddy & incorrect” at the time, Arjona has now officially boarded the project, with her casting confirmed at CinemaCon.

According to trade reports, Arjona won’t be portraying Wonder Woman, but rather the character of Maxima, an alien queen and conqueror, who is predominantly known in the comic books for her obsession with the Man of Steel, viewing Kal-El as the only man worthy of becoming her king and mate. At the time of writing, that is yet to be officially confirmed by Gunn or the studio, and given the filmmaker’s past comments, there remains speculation that we may have our new Amazon Princess.

Man of Tomorrow is being directed by James Gunn and sees the return of Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgir, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Maria Gabriella de Faria as The Engineer. Aaron Pierre will also reprise his Lanterns role as John Stewart/Green Lantern, while Lars Eidinger has been cast as Brainiac.

Man of Tomorrow is set for release on July 9th, 2027.
