Paramount Pictures have snapped up Alexandre Aja to direct a sequel to his 2019 survival hit Crawl.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Hills Have Eyes director will return to orchestrate the gator-gore, working from a script written by Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension). According to sources the sequel will feature a completely new cast, and relocate the alligators to the concrete jungle of New York City.
Crawl told the story of a young woman (Kaya Scodelario), who while attempting to save her father (Barry Pepper) during a Category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped in a flooding house as hungry alligators circle around her.
Made for a mere $14 million, Crawl earned rave reviews and chomped down on an impressive $91.5 million at the worldwide box-office, so it should come as little surprise that Paramount want to chum the waters once again.
