Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo to star in Point Blank remake

June 23, 2018 by Gary Collinson

According to Collider, Netflix is looking to reunite Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: Civil War co-stars Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo on a remake of the 2010 French action-thriller Point Blank.

The film is being directed by Joe Lynch (Mayhem) from a script by Adam G. Simon (Man Down), and will see Mackie as a nurse who is coerced into springing a wounded murder suspect (Grillo) from the hospital when the killer’s brother kidnaps his pregnant wife and wants to make a trade. Mackie needs to keep Grillo alive long enough for the exchange, as well as outmanoeuvring rival gangsters and dirty cops.

Mackie is gearing up to go into production on Signal Hill, where he will star as famed lawyer Johnnie Cochran, and has several projects incoming including The Hate U Give, Io and Miss Bala. There’s also a good chance he’ll pop up in next year’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.

Grillo meanwhile is currently shooting Once Upon a Time in Staten Island, reuniting him with The Purge creator James DeMonaco, and has the Bruce Willis action-thriller Reprisal incoming in August [watch the trailer here]. He also recently wrapped filming on Joe Carnahan’s Boss Level, where he stars alongside Mel Gibson, Annabelle Wallis, Naomi Watts and Michelle Yeoh.
