Anghus Houvouras on why Transformers: Age of Extinction is the smartest movie of the year (warning: spoilers ahead)….Michael Bay is the personification of a pinata. He’s this bright, garish, candy filled monstrosity which people take way too much pleasure taking swings at. Critics might talk about how bad his success is for filmmaking, but they’re […]

Anghus Houvouras on why we should let Ghostbusters die already…We are nostalgic to a fault. That’s the thought that keeps ringing through my mind as I swim through the wake of remakes, reboots, and re-imaginings being put into production time and again. Anghus Houvouras on whether Ant-Man will end the Marvel success streak….The Marvel movies are beyond successful both with fans and financially. It’s a giant machine of perpetual motion that cranks out money-making, audience pleasing hits. However, at some point, the streak is going to die. Anghus Houvouras reviews the season one finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D…I’m glad we’re not eulogizing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the conclusion of the first season.  It’s a wonderfully imperfect show that has had some interesting highs and baffling lows.  Yet, I still think that there’s a workable rhythm to this whole enterprise that the […]

Angus Houvouras reviews the penultimate episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D….There’s a sound I’m hearing while watching the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..  It’s the sound of someone hitting the brakes over and over again bringing all the build up momentum to a screeching halt.  That would be the second to last  episode of the […]
