Avengers: Infinity War directors think a Black Widow movie is “crazy exciting”

January 27, 2018 by Gary Collinson

For years now there have been calls for Scarlett Johansson to headline her own Black Widow movie, and that took a huge step towards finally becoming a reality earlier this month when Marvel Studios tapped Jac Schaeffer (Nasty Women) to pen the script for a solo film for the Avenger.

This is of course exciting news for fans of the character – and that extends to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who have worked with Johansson on Captain America: The First Avengers, Captain America: Civil War and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, with the duo sharing a few words on the project during an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“It’s crazy exciting, yeah,” said Anthony, with Joe adding: “Yeah, we’re very happy for that. I mean it’s such a rich and interesting character. There’s so much to explore with a character whose history was as a villain, and you know, Scarlett does such a good job of playing that character and people are so used to that character that you forget the character’s history, and so there’s a lot of compelling stories to tell about someone who has a dark past.”
