Carl Weathers reportedly cast in Star Wars series The Mandalorian

November 12, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite the fact that it’s been filming for over a month now, we’re yet to get any kind of official casting news for Lucasfilm and Jon Favreau’s upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian.

Last month, the folks at Making Star Wars reported that Pedro Pascal (Narcos, Game of Thrones) was in contention for a role, and now the site is back with another report, this time stating that Rocky and Predator star Carl Weathers is heading to the galaxy far, far away for an unspecified supporting part.

Given that the Disney+ streaming service isn’t set to launch until late 2019, we could well face a lengthy wait until we get any word on casting for The Mandalorian from Disney and Lucasfilm, although it’s certainly a little unusual that such a large project can make it this far into production without any news slipping out via the trades.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
