Martin Carr reviews the tenth episode of Better Call Saul season 2…For season finales this is a weird one. There is no resolution, there is no big finish, in fact there’s just continuation. That’s not to say there’s no drama, just no big finish. It uses flashback to expand on a deep bond between Chuck […]
Better Call Saul Season 2 Episode 9 Review – ‘Nailed’
Martin Carr reviews the ninth episode of Better Call Saul season 2…By Christ Odenkirk is one complex actor. Now I don’t mean to blaspheme because such things are unnecessary until provoked and genuine in their delivery, but come on. If anything or anyone manages to blindside you more than Jimmy McGill then I want pointing […]
Gotham Season 2 Episode 17 Review – ‘Into The Woods’
Martin Carr reviews the seventeenth episode of Gotham season 2…Episode seventeen entitled ‘Into The Woods’ has nothing to do Sondheim. There is no warbling, no Meryl Streep and mercifully no Johnny Depp looking shifty amongst the undergrowth. Instead we get gothic melodrama, boatloads of crazy and a showdown which is more Millers Crossing than DC […]
Supergirl Season 1 Episode 19 Review – ‘Myriad’
Martin Carr reviews the nineteenth episode of Supergirl…Mass extinction has always been a good subject for drama, because historically people have killed, maimed, destroyed and segregated without compunction. Sparing you the lecture let’s just say cultures have done, will do and continue doing heinous things under the misguided belief that they are right. Supergirl has […]
Better Call Saul Season 2 Episode 7 Review – ‘Inflatable’
Martin Carr reviews the seventh episode of Better Call Saul season 2…What I like about Better Call Saul is the pace. That feeling which implies there is no rush and ultimately this programme is all about the long game. Because if you notice not a lot really happens here, although things do happen eventually. Breaking Bad […]
Better Call Saul Season 2 Episode 8 – ‘Fifi’
Martin Carr reviews the eighth episode of Better Call Saul season 2…It took me a while to work out how Saul works. To begin with I figured it was the usual mix of ongoing story stretched over several episodes to form a cohesive whole, but this week the penny dropped.Sure there is the continuing saga […]
Supergirl Season 1 Episode 18 Review – ‘Worlds Finest’
Martin Carr reviews the eighteenth episode of Supergirl… When something flies by at a rate of knots it tends to mean good things. What we have with ‘Worlds Finest’ is an example of exactly that. With talk of multiverses and parallel dimensions existing independently, Supergirl manages to mine rich territory this week. In a crossover […]
Gotham Season 2 Episode 16 Review – ‘Prisoners’
Martin Carr reviews the sixteenth episode of Gotham season 2…Gordon behind bars is a more intriguing prospect than you might think this week. As ‘Prisoners’ splits itself evenly between Penguin and Black Gate prison, giving both actors the opportunity to shine in their own shared episode. McKenzie takes stoic to another level with his hardened […]
Better Call Saul Season 2 Episode 6 Review – ‘Bali Ha’i’
Martin Carr reviews the sixth episode of Better Call Saul Season 2…I’ll be honest this reviewer is not up to speed with Better Call Saul. Now before the diehards start getting upset let me just say that I did watch Breaking Bad religiously. Like a vast majority of the population it drew me in and […]
Daredevil Season 2 Episode 12 Review – ‘The Dark At The End of The Tunnel’
Martin Carr reviews the twelfth episode of Daredevil season 2…If Fisk owned episode ten and eleven belonged to Castle then episode twelve, or ‘The Dark At The End This Tunnel’ feels strangely average. Now I know that Daredevil average is another programme’s barnstorming opener, so I will be cautious in my evaluation. It’s only that […]
