Chapter 4 of Elite Dangerous: Beyond arrives this December

December 3, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Developments has announced that Chapter Four of Elite Dangerous: Beyond will be released on 11th December on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.  This final chapter in the Beyond season of updates will be free for all ship commanders and is jam packed full of new content, including a new analysis mode, advanced mining and much more.  A tantalising update launch trailer can be seen below…

Chapter 4 features two brand new ships, a whole new discovery system for those wanting to spend more time exploring, advanced mining techniques and some more multiplayer options.

For the explorers amongst you, Chapter 4 features a new Analysis Mode which includes an improved Exploration Discovery Scanner and Detailed Discovery Scanner.  This new feature will allow players to perform an initial scan of the system and then fine tune the scanner to look for stellar bodies and other phenomena, to provide a more realistic and immersive exploration experience.  Ship commanders will have access to probes that can programmed to map planetary rings and planetary surfaces and locate points of interest.

To provide a more lucrative mining experience, players can make use of new mining tools and mechanics to help investigate asteroid belts and identify mineral deposits within individual asteroids.  Once this prime location is identified a skillful detonation will release all the mineral goodies.

The multiplayer experience is being improved upon with the addition of Squadrons.  This new feature allows like-minded commanders to support the same faction and take part in Community Goals whilst competing with each other for a top spot on the weekly leaderboards.  This new feature will also feature new communication tools to help players co-ordinate their actions.

There’s lots more to this final update of the season so be sure to download on 11th December.
