Chiwetel Ejiofor is excited to work with Sam Raimi on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

July 3, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Chiwetel Ejiofor recently confirmed that he’ll be reprising the role of Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and now he has offered his thoughts on Sam Raimi taking over directorial duties for the second instalment of the Marvel franchise.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Ejiofor revealed he is excited by the prospect of working with the beloved director for the upcoming sequel.

“I love Sam Raimi, so I’m very excited that he’s making a film, the second Doctor Strange,” Ejiofor said. “He brings to anything he does, a wealth of imagination and passion. In this genre, he’s just one of the seminal figures. I remember seeing Darkman when I was a kid. It was beyond, it’s so amazing. So I think he has an incredible mind and I think he’s really able to bring that mind into his storytelling in a really unique way, and it’s very suited to the world that’s been created by Doctor Strange, and I’m very excited to see what he does with that world.”

While Ejiofor didn’t go into plot specifics, Raimi does seem like the perfect director to take over directorial duties for the more horror-focused sequel from the previous director Scott Derrickson due to his experience in both comic book movies with his Spider-Man trilogy and his roots in the horror genre with The Evil Dead franchise.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features a cast including Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr Stephen Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), while it has been confirmed that Rachel McAdams will not be returning as Dr. Christine Palmer.
