Chris Pratt says The LEGO Movie Sequel will deal with the real world

April 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

As Chris Pratt finishes up his work on Avengers: Infinity War, the actor is set to make his return to the world of LEGO next month as he begins voice recording sessions for Warner Bros.’ The LEGO Movie Sequel., which sees him returning as everyman minifigure Emmett.

Speaking to Gizmodo to promote the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pratt offered a brief update on the status of the sequel, and confirmed that it will deal with the introduction of the ‘real world’ in the original film’s final act.

“I’ve done some work on it but we really haven’t done the bulk of the work yet. I’m about to get the newest draft of the script and really dive into it in about two weeks. I’ve got my major record in about two weeks. The first movie is a very difficult movie to create a sequel to because, as all the best movies do, it paints itself into a corner. Especially by tearing down the fourth wall in the final act. That’s a major jump, so they have got some really awesome ideas on how to deal with that and I can’t wait for people to see it.”

One way of dealing with it would be to have the characters entering the real world, although Chris McKay – animation co-director of The LEGO Movie and director of The LEGO Batman Movie – has previously said it’s going to be “this big musical and space action movie”, so at this point it’s anyone’s guess as to what the plot might entail.

What would you like to see as the plot for The LEGO Movie Sequel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

The LEGO Movie Sequel is set to be released on February 8th, 2019 and is being directed by Mike Mitchell (Trolls).
