Daniel Craig “just about persuaded” to do Bond 25, Tom Hiddleston “too smug and not tough enough” for 007

April 5, 2017 by Robert Kojder

The million-dollar question of whether Daniel Craig will or won’t return as James Bond for the 25th entry in the long-running spy franchise continues to roll on, with Page Six reporting that producer Barbara Broccoli has “just about persuaded Daniel Craig to do one more Bond movie.”

This comes after Daniel Craig reportedly turned down a $150 million dollar paycheck for doing two more films. Assuming there is any truth to Page Six’s report, what this likely means is that the script – which has been written by Bond regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade – has also convinced the picky actor to reconsider.

The article also goes on to claim that Craig’s rumoured successor Tom Hiddleston is viewed by Broccoli as “too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.”

It’s also worth noting that Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes will not be returning for the next film in the franchise, while Sony’s distribution rights have expired, meaning that a big bidding war will eventually take place.

As yet, there is no word on a planned release date or production start on Bond 25, but it would seem likely that the producers will be keen to get things moving as soon as they have Craig – or their next 007 – locked down.
