David Fincher has signed a four year exclusive deal with Netflix

November 12, 2020 by Samuel Brace

David Fincher, director of Fight Club and Se7en, has signed a four-year exclusive deal with Netflix.

When it comes to any list of great modern directors, David Fincher’s name has to be included. The director of iconic films like Fight Club and Se7en, as well as recent hits like Gone Girl, Fincher rarely lets you down.

He has been working with Netflix recently, including on the now cancelled Mindhunter and the upcoming Mank. If you are a fan of Fincher, you better keep that Netflix subscription, however, as the director has signed a four-year exclusivity deal with the platform.

Speaking to Premiere, Fincher said: “Yes, I have an exclusivity deal with [Netflix] for another four years. And depending on Mank’s reception, I’ll either go see them sheepishly asking them what I can do to redeem myself or take the attitude of the arrogant asshole who’ll require making other films in black and white. [Laughs] No, I’m here to deliver them ‘content’ — whatever it means— likely to bring them spectators, in my small sphere of influence.”

Netflix and Fincher clearly enjoy their existing relationship and feel that it benefits both parties to lock the beloved director down. Hopefully, the next four years bear some tantalising fruit for us to enjoy.
