DC unveils trailer for Watchmen two-part animated movie

June 13, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Warner Bros. Animation and DC have dropped a teaser-trailer for their R-rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ classic graphic novel Watchmen.

Split into two separate CGI animated movies, with chapter 1 scheduled to be released sometime later this year, and chapter 2 to follow in 2025, this is the third high-profile adaptation of the legendary graphic novel, following Zack Snyder’s 2009 movie, and the critically acclaimed limited series created by Damon Lindelof, which ran for a single season in 2019. Check out the trailer below…

“Danger is on the horizon.” In an alternate 1985 America, costumed superheroes are part of everyday life. When one of his former comrades is murdered in his own apartment, the masked vigilante known as Rorschach uncovers a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his retired associates, only one of which has true powers (Dr. Manhattan), Rorschach glimpses a far-reaching conspiracy involving their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the world’s future.

Watchmen Chapter 1 will release later this year, with Chapter 2 releasing sometime in 2025.
