Diego Luna reveals the pandemic’s impact on Star Wars’ Cassian Andor show

August 12, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Diego Luna, the star of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel show, has discussed the impact of the virus on production.

Star Wars fans are going to have to wait a good few years before another movie but the good news is that there is plenty of TV content on the way, including the Rogue One prequel show about Cassian Andor.

Diego Luna will be reprising his role from the film and has told The Guardian that the pandemic did indeed disrupt production of the series but things are now getting back on track:

“Shooting is starting around the world, so slowly, we’re going back, but there’s no rush. To me, what this pandemic brought to my attention is that there [are] priorities. We have to be cautious, and we have to be wise on when and how to go back. And the how is the most important, because if we go back to be who we were, we’ve wasted our opportunity, we wasted a major opportunity of rethinking and reinventing much of the stuff we believed was crucial and essential that clearly is not.”

It certainly sounds like Luna is coming out of the global crisis with a new perspective on things. It’s certainly going to be nice to have things like the Cassian show to look forward to, that’s for sure. It will be interesting to see what it’s all about!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Tony Gilroy is serving as showrunner on the series, as well as scripting the pilot episode and directing multiple episodes. Along with the returning Diego Luna, the series will feature returning Rogue One stars Alan Tudyk (K-2SO) and Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), while Star Wars newcomers include Adria Arjona (6 Underground), Stellan Skarsgard (Chernobyl), Denise Gough (The Kid Who Would Be King) Kyle Soller (101 Dalmatian Street).
