Disney CEO comments on plans for Fox properties like X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four and Avatar

August 8, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Disney has plans on how to incorporate their purchased Fox properties such as X-Men, Deadpool, and The Fantastic Four.

The sale of Fox’s film and TV assets to Disney has been a huge talking point for many months, largely due to the fact that Marvel properties like X-Men and the Fantastic Four could potentially join the MCU as a result of the deal.

Now that the buyout is a moving ahead, many people might be wondering if Disney has plans for all these newly acquired properties. Well, CEO Bob Iger spoke about the subject during a recent conference call (via ComicBook.com):

“The assets we’re buying fit perfectly with our plan to substantially grow our portfolio,” Iger said. “FX is renowned for great high-quality television. Our plan is to provide even more resources to further FX’s existing business.”

Iger also told investors (via Screen Rant): “20th Century Fox Film is yet another example. It gives us the opportunity to be associated with and to expand iconic movie franchises like Avatar, Marvel’s X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Deadpool, Planet of the Apes, Kingsman, and many others.”

There’s no question that these are interesting times for the film and TV industry and it makes all the sense in the world that Disney is busy plotting and planning just how they will incorporate all of these new properties into the Disney brand.
