Faran Tahir to play The Commander in Supergirl

According to ComicBook, actor Faran Tahir (Iron Man, Star Trek) has signed on to the cast of the currently-in-production Supergirl pilot, where he’s set to play The Commander, “an alien military expert leading the forces alligned against Supergirl.”

The Supergirl pilot is filming now, with Melissa Benoist (Whiplash) leading the cast as Kara Danvers/Supergirl alongside Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Alexandra Danvers, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Alura Zor-El, David Harewood (Selfie) as Hank Henshaw, Mechad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as Jimmy Olsen, Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years) as Winslow Schott and Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Helen Slater (Supergirl) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
