First look at Benedict Cumberbatch in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain

September 2, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Coinciding with its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, Amazon has released a first-look clip from the biographical drama The Electrical Life of Louis Wain which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the eccentric British artist alongside Claire Foy as his wife Emily Richardson; take a look here…

The extraordinary true story of eccentric British artist Louis Wain (Benedict Cumberbatch), whose playful, sometimes even psychedelic pictures helped to transform the public’s perception of cats forever. Moving from the late 1800s through to the 1930s, we follow the incredible adventures of this inspiring, unsung hero, as he seeks to unlock the “electrical” mysteries of the world and, in so doing, to better understand his own life and the profound love he shared with his wife Emily Richardson (Claire Foy).

Joining Cumberbatch and Foy in the cast of The Electrical Life of Louis Wain are Andrea Riseborough, Toby Jones, Sharon Rooney, Aimee Lou Wood, Hayley Squires, Stacy Martin, Phoebe Nicholls, Adeel Akhtar, Asim Chaudhry, Richard Ayoade, Julian Barratt, Sophia di Martino, Taika Waititi, Nick Cave, and Olivia Colman.

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain will release in early 2022.
