First trailer for Netflix’s Jane Austen adaptation Persuasion starring Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding and Cosmo Jarvis

June 14, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

With just a month to go until Persuasion arrives on Netflix, the streaming service has released the first trailer, poster and images for the romantic drama.

Based on Jane Austen’s final novel, the film stars Dakota Johnson as Anne, a woman who must decide whether to put her past behind her or follow her heart when the man she was persuaded not to marry eight years earlier returns.

Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she let get away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.

Directed by Carrie Cracknell, the film features a cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, Cosmo Jarvis, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Richard E. Grant.

Persuasion arrives on Netflix on July 15th.
