Flashpoint directors’ deal not finalised, but new villain and character rumours surface

February 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last month, it was announced that Game Night helmers and Spider-Man: Homecoming scriptwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the studios Flash movie, which as revealed at Comic-Con last year, is now an adaptation of the Flashpoint story arc.

Well, according to the duo, talks are still ongoing, and a deal is yet to be finalised with the studio (via THR):

“We’re still negotiating,” said Daley, who revealed that they are yet to start working on the script because “we have to sign the deal. Hopefully it will work out.”

“It’s all about parking spots,” joked Goldstein. “If you give in, then you’re all the way out by craft services. You want a better spot than that.”

Warner Bros. will surely be keen to lock the duo down, given that the project has already passed through the hands of two directors in Seth Graheme-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa.

Despite the fact that negotiations are still ongoing, That Hashtag Show claims to have details on supporting characters set to feature alongside Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, which will reportedly include Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Henry Allen (Billy Crudup) and Iris West (Kiersey Clemons), as well as Caitlin Snow, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Officer Fred Chyre and Detective Jered Morillo.

The site also goes on to claim that, in a major deviation from the comic book source material, the main villain is reportedly set to be Dr. Arthur Light, while “the film would include some references or potential flashbacks to Barry’s accident, an accident we’re told that will include Eobard Thawne in an interesting way.”

There’s no mention in the report about the previous rumours suggesting that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck’s Batman will both make appearances in Flashpoint. That being said, we’ve got no confirmation that any of this information is accurate, and even if it is, everything could well change when (and if) Daley and Goldstein do officially board the project.
