G.I. Joe 3 to feature a character from M.A.S.K.?

February 6, 2015 by admin

Details about G.I. Joe 3 are up in the air at the moment. It was announced back in April last year that Jon M. Chu had left the director’s chair of the movie and the studio have since been in talks with D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) and Martin Campbell (GoldenEye) to take over.

According to the chaps over at Film Divider, it seems like Paramount are looking to add some new characters to the line-up to keep things fresh. First up will be the villainous Crimson twins Tomax and Xamot, who were big parts of the comic book and cartoon series, but perhaps more interestingly is the possibility of a cross over character.

The site claims that a character by the name of Matt Trakker will be added to the G.I. Joe roster. For those not in the know, Trakker was the leader of the good guys in the cartoon series and toy line M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand). Although M.A.S.K. was a Kenner line of toys, they were purchased by Hasbro who merged the two lines together. There was even a Matt Trakker G.I. Joe toy.

Paramount have been teasing the ideas of crossovers as of late, with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura talking the chances of G.I. Joe and Transformers crossing paths, as well as the idea of Transformers teaming up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So the idea of adding a M.A.S.K. character into the mix doesn’t seem outside the realms of possibility.
