Variety is reporting that Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle), Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), Michael Chernus (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Anna Baryshnikov (Manchester By the Sea), Daisy Tahan (The Nice Guys), Samrat Chakrabarti (In Treatment) and Ajay Naidu (Office Space) have joined Maggie Gyllenhaal (Crazy Heart) in The Kindergarten Teacher.
Written and directed by Sara Colangelo and based on Nadav Lapid’s Israeli film of the same name, the drama will see Gyllenhaal as “a kindergarten teacher who grows more and more numb each day she remains stuck in her mundane Staten Island life. When she discovers what may be a prodigious five-year old poet in her class, she becomes obsessed with the child and his talent– risking her career, family, and freedom.”
Production on The Kindergarten Teacher is now underway in New York, with Maven Pictures and Pie Films producing.
